An investigation is underway in the European Parliament concerning a corruption network linked to Huawei. Belgian authorities have charged five individuals with corruption, organized crime, and money laundering. Searches have been conducted at the European Parliament in Brussels and elsewhere, with a suspect arrested in France. The investigation focuses on Huawei lobbyists and parliamentary assistants suspected of offering incentives, including payments, gifts, and travel, in exchange for favorable political positions since 2021. Huawei denies the allegations and claims a zero-tolerance policy on corruption. The company has officially accredited nine lobbyists and has met with 24 MEPs and EU Commission representatives to influence legislation related to telecommunications and technology.
